Violent yet Gripping. Watch it for Aamir’s acting and an intelligent revenge. Aamir portrayed each emotion with perfection. Once again he proved what a fine actor he is. Although the story is nothing extraordinary, director Murugadoss manages to keep you stuck to your seats for the entire length of the movie.

shahrukh is good as the simple middle-class middle-aged man working for Punjab Power – Surinder Sahni. You will like the new damsel in bollywood – Anushka. She is beautiful and is able to maintain her own place inspite of shahrukh’s stardom. Also watch out for Vinay Pathak with a slimmer, amritsari hep look – orange hair, funky clothes, and as always great acting. The story is another simple love story, but you will like the “simplicity” in the love story.

It is very well scripted, with much delicacy and sensitivity. Debutant director Shonali Bose handled the subject with the maturity of a well-experienced director. The movie portrays the journey of a young sikh girl (Amu) who was orphaned during the 1984 riots.

The movie portrays the face of the faceless India whose value (it is shown) is equal to “barah aana“. It’s a story of three ordinary people living in a slum – a driver, a watchman, and a waiter. If Slumdog Millionaire shows you one face of the slums and the plight of the slum kids, Barah Aana shows you a different face of the slums (or rather the inner part of the slums) and the hypocrytic face of the society towards the slum dwellers.
